Xmas at the rig and the rest in the outdoor living room of my friends' house

I guess I should wish everybody a Happy New Year, but you know what regardless of the time of year I just hope the next day will be good..for me and for everybody else...one day at a time.

I've have not made any resolutions. I never make New Year resolutions.... I am already trying as hard as I am willing to try, anything more would not last. I don't mean to suggest that i think that I am perfect, maybe I am just admitting that I am lazy...
I swear, I am already trying as hard as I am willing to try!

This year once again, and I think it is either the 8th or 9th year in a row I worked on Xmas day. I had Xmas plans, everything was organized, my back-to-back was at the rig so all was covered (you never have 2 geologists so it WAS covered) but on the evening of the 22nd I was told that I had to go to the rig the next morning because my back-to-back thought that the work coming up would be too tiring for him!!!!
I honestly was outraged when I heard why I had to go.
the one thing that made my "visit" to the rig sweeter was that it was nice to see everybody again, and everybody was pleasant greeting me with "Welcome back" and smiling.
The guys on this rig are great!!! They made my Xmas!

Over the holidays when I was in town (Johannesburg being the town) I stayed with friends. They have an absolutely lovely thatch roofed house with a beautiful peaceful garden, two dogs, a swimming pool and most of all an outdoor living room... a very south African thing...Obviously you can only have an outdoor living room in areas where the climat is exceptionally good, and in Johannesburg the climat is perfect for it. It was great to stay with my friends. I really made a difference.
I'll post some photos of the outdoor living-room soon and you'll see what I mean.
